I finally finished William Gibson's Neuromancer that I started some time ago and am so happy to be done. I started reading the physical book (a beautiful hard copy) and ended it by listening to the audio version. Listening to it really helped although I still did plenty of rewinding though.
It was such an intriguing novel, yet I could only read a bit at a time. It was frustrating as to why I could not get into the typical groove of reading a good story. I finally realized why I was having such issues.

This book is just too damn cool for me. That is the bottom line. I picture it as some cool breeze walking down the street, snapping its fingers to the tune of its walk, all eyes on it, going where it wants to go.
The style of writing Gibson used in is extremely palpable. His descriptive efforts were what took me to a place I have never been before when it comes to a world of escape through technology. This style accompanied by his own language based off future, it could get quite confusing.
This reminded me of Do Androids Sleep of Electric Sheep by Philip K Dick because it is fast paced, it is gritty, and it is action packed with a similar storyline.
His writing style is unique causing issues for readability, the storyline was easy to follow, and the character build worked with most of the characters.
The experience is hard to put into words. I would get frustrated, but I also enjoyed when I understood what was happening. I reread certain parts at times because they seemed so eloquent that I wanted to truly understand the depth of the meaning. It felt like it took me a long time to read the book. I could only read so much, and I would put it down, but a couple months is not too long, I guess.
The other 2 in the sprawl series will be read, and I do want to reread or at least open the book and reread pages and passages.
I was not always jacked in, but the story was captivating, and his style of writing makes it worth reading.
Neuromancer is a recommended classic to all sci-fi fans especially to you cyberpunks.
