This video showcases how I illustrate Pokemon, specifically Pikachu in Adobe Illustrator. I use basic shapes, limited pen tool, the shape builder tool and the curvature tool to create nice flowing line work.
How to draw/illustrate Pikachu as a flat design illustration in Adobe Illustrator tutorial. Step by Step process I use.
1. Draw by hand concept illustration. I used a reference image of Pikachu and also drew nice smooth shadow lines.
2. Scan the illustration and import to Adobe Illustrator and set it as a template.
3. Line work, I use about 8 point thickness on an 1100x1100px canvas
4. Base colour
5. Shadows, you can use a darker shade of the base colour or like I did which was the same colour as the stroke switched it to fill and dimmed the opacity to 10%-20%
6. DONE!!!
