When doing my song covers, it’s all by ear (or from memory if I can), so I listen to segments of a song over and over to discern its components; but for that low and quiet piano, the percussion and melody kept drowning it out! I could hear the structure of it, but needed an isolated version for those notes in particular, and their piano cover of it was a big help! For every other part of the song, I just referred to the original The Greatest Living Show music video like usual.
I’ve been following Toby Fox’s other work through his newsletters, and The Greatest Living Show was such a treat last year, and what a masterpiece from everyone involved! I’d always wanted to make something for it, and I could go on and on about its artistry! This was by far the most complex song cover I’ve done since I started my music-making journey in May, and in the end I’m very satisfied with the result!
