Here's a quick introduction on how to play a lead sheet as a solo pianist. Basic music theory and chord knowledge is assumed. If you don't know how to quickly figure out a G#13 you aren't ready to be playing a lead sheet. Learn your chords first. If it moves too fast for you, you may want to slow the video down, pause and do a screen capture for future reference. Be sure to practice playing just the melody and the bass/root note BEFORE trying to play a full lead sheet. See our chord tutorial if you need help in figuring out chords.
