Smooth sailing with the Sandisk drive. The USB-C SSD is a well pairing with the M1 MacBook Air, or any other M1 computer for that matter running Final Cut Pro. One of my many, many favorite features of Final Cut is the ability to run an entire library complete with their generated event files externally to save space on the native SDD on the computer.
For system comparison, I am using the 2020 MacBook Air with the M1 processor paired with 16GB of Unified Memory and 512 GB of SSD.
This Sandisk Extreme Pro SSD version is the 1050 MB/s read and 1000 MB/s write version. This has 1 TB of storage, however Sandisk makes this is several other storage sizes based on your needs, but I would highly recommend at least 1TB to have enough space to save several projects in progress. Personally I have about 10 Final Cut Projects, mostly 1080p, that average about 5 minutes in length. Together they are using about 250 GB of storage on the drive, along with 100GB of original video clips which greatly vary in size. That may help you determine if you will need more, less, or something similar.
