The problem that we see nowadays, is that we seem to think it’s where we come from and our environmental surroundings that define who we are…

But what I think Musashi is trying to hint at - is that wrapping our self esteem up into our environment is a perfect strategy for you to end up depressed.

Now there’s nothing wrong with being proud of buying a new house or wanting to move out of a bad area etc but the important aspect is to not let these external circumstances define who you are as a person…

Concentrate more so on your character, your attitude and what you want to accomplish on your life’s journey

Many of us don’t come from the best environments or have the best backgrounds, that’s just reality, but it shouldn’t make you feel like you’re only option is that you have to become a product of that environment.

It shouldn’t matter if you live in a cave or a mansion, letting your external environment define how you feel about yourself isn’t the true path of a warrior

A true warrior is one that is able to get up, accept their environment for what it is and set out every day with their intent of moving 1 step closer to accomplishing their life’s journey regardless of their external circumstances.
