South of England XC Men's Race Championships 15K at Beckenham Place 29/01/2022 Full Race

Wow that was a massive shock to the system. 15K of XC with no mud , tough stoney paths and tree roots.

Thankful got sent a picture the night before the race of part of the course, and the biggest choice was to wear spikes or trial trainers.

So we left the windy Town of Swindon and head up to London, we managed to find a rent a packing space within 5 minutes walk of venue.

we arrived about 14:00 pm and found a spot to drop our bags as there was only 4 of us. Luke, Max, Dan and I decided on go for a warm up and see what the course was like and what shoes we would wear etc. We did one big lap of the course and notice the grass bits on the course was great for spikes but the rest was tough on the feet. Meaning wear 6 mm spikes or trail shoes.
For me I had to wear trail trainers as i would of been broken trying to run that course in spikes.
Fair play to all the runners that wore spike. One runner I know trusted his best friend and ran in 15mm spikes, if I was him I would of disowned my mate haha. Mr BC :)
Anyways it was a tough fast race with sharp turns, tree roots and hills in just the right places to make it a very tough day.

Goal was to beat 95 place where I finished in 2020 and I just about managed this finishing in 92nd. But was I the first Swindon Harrier Home????
