Milan has two historic canals - Naviglio Grande and Naviglio Pavese which merge into the old port/dock called Darsena. The old port has now been revamped into a pedestrianized plaza called Piazza XXIV Maggio. Frequent Metro and bus service this area. Between the two canals, Naviglio Grande is the King, the most touristic and the most fascinating site along the entire Navigli. It is often called the "Little Venice". Nightlife in Naviglio Grande is vibrant and colorful. Italians, young and old, come to this place to observe their longstanding tradition of aperitivo, a social hour after work to socialize, drink and eat together with friends/family. Beginning at 6p til wee hours of the night, this is where you want to be, if you're looking for some nightlife actions -- music, food, wine, talk, fun, laughters ...
