The Exploring Joara Foundation's “450th Anniversary of Juan Pardo Expeditions” exhibit tells the story of the first European colony in North Carolina and previews the events planned to commemorate the 450th anniversary of the founding of Fort San Juan that occurred in January, 1567.
Stop by City Hall through January to review displays of Spanish and Native American Burke County history that archaeologists, scientists and volunteers have uncovered at the 16th century Spanish Fort of San Juan and Native American village of Joara just outside of Morganton North Carolina.
