In 1970 "die Knef", as she was known in Germany, recorded this super strange song which can only be labelled as German psychedelic, groovy jazz funk, sci-fi chanson.
On The 80th floor (of a house that doesn´t exist in a city that doesn´t exist) will be a girl waiting for a man, but she´s going to be sad...that´s what Hildgard tells us in her trademark "greatest singer without a voice"-voice.
But the real thrill of the song is the excellent arrangemnt of funky bass and drums with instrumentation that actually sounds like music that doesn´t exist played in the non existent skyscraper described in the lyrics.
For this mix I created an instrumental version, which plays before the actual song follows. The isolated vocals are doubled with the full version and slightly dubbed, which adds even more strangeness on top of the already bizarre record.
