We took a short trip from Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau and were honestly shocked by how good it was. As the closest beach city to Saigon, Vung Tau feels relaxed, scenic, and seriously underrated. We stayed at a beautiful beachfront hotel and spent time at Back Beach (Bãi Sau), a long, open stretch of sand where locals swim, stroll, and catch sunset. You can tell there’s a lot of money being invested here, and it really feels like Vung Tau is becoming the next Da Nang. One of the highlights was climbing up to the Jesus Christ Statue for sweeping views of the coastline and city. We ended the day at a hidden café we stumbled upon, watching the most incredible sunset we’ve seen in Vietnam so far. Vung Tau completely exceeded our expectations and we already want to come back.
