Hitler & Trump: A Scientific Analysis of Racist Rhetoric (Language, Mechanisms, Resistance)
This video series examines—carefully, fact-based, and with a clear educational purpose—how racist and discriminatory rhetoric works: historically in National Socialism and today in the political language of Donald Trump. Important: this series is not a simplistic comparison of people, and it is not a comparison to Holocaust events. The Holocaust is historically unique. The focus here is on rhetorical mechanisms and their social effects—how certain patterns of language can normalize exclusion, shift moral boundaries, and increase tolerance for discrimination and violence.
Across the series we analyze, among other mechanisms:
Dehumanization (portraying groups as “animals,” “vermin,” “not human”)
Biologization (“blood,” “poisoning,” “purity” frames)
War/emergency metaphors (“invasion,” “enemy,” “self-defense”)
Scapegoating and conspiracy narratives
Dog whistles (coded messages that mobilize insiders while staying deniable)
Euphemisms and bureaucratic language that disguises harm and rights violations
Attacks on media and expertise (“fake news,” “so-called experts”)
Platform and AI amplification (how algorithms, virality, memes, and AI systems can scale harmful frames)
This is not just analysis for its own sake. We ask why these patterns matter: How do they shift what becomes “sayable”? Which groups are put at risk? How can democratic societies respond effectively—through media literacy, prebunking, evidence-based counterspeech, clear norms, and solidarity with those targeted?
Questions to keep in mind while watching:
Which words reduce people to categories—and what does that do to empathy and moral limits?
Which claims are verifiable facts, and which are framing tactics?
Which institutions are being undermined (media, courts, science), and who benefits from that?
How can we respond without spreading the hateful frame further?
You can also use these videos for education and discussion. If you share them, please do so with context. Racism is not “just an opinion.” It harms real people, undermines safety, and weakens democracy.
