Lula Praises India Partnership, Sets $30 Billion Trade Goal | Brazil-India Ties Deepen

Описание: Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has praised the strategic partnership between Brazil and India, describing it as a relationship built on equality rather than dominance. Speaking at the India Brazil Economic Forum, Lula said negotiations with India differ from those with wealthier nations, emphasising that the two countries engage as peers with shared challenges and aspirations.

Highlighting the steady growth in bilateral ties, Lula noted that trade between the two nations has risen from $2.4 billion during his first visit to $10.5 billion today. While a $20 billion trade target has been set for 2030, he expressed confidence that the figure could reach $30 billion given the strong economic potential on both sides.

A major focus of the visit was healthcare and pharmaceuticals. India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation and Brazil’s ANVISA signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen regulatory cooperation in medical products, including pharmaceuticals, biological products, and medical devices.

Seven agreements were signed during the visit, supporting Brazil’s industrial development and expanding collaboration across sectors. The trip underscores deepening India Brazil ties and reinforces their growing partnership within the Global South framework.
