Dominica is a beautiful island nation in the Caribbean. Often nicknamed ‘the nature island’ thanks to its unspoilt beauty and abundance of natural landscapes, it’s home to around 72,000 people.
Coming from the USA, the roads are fairly small, but you can’t tell the way everyone drives. Most are pretty courteous drivers and allow others to pass when one lane is blocked.
Due to the island being very mountainous, the roads are very curvy and on one side, in most areas, a very steep drop and the other side into a mountain wall. You will also notice most roads have a drainage ditch that is about a foot wide and a foot or two deep. So if you decide to drive in Dominica, take your time and stay on the road.
