My thoughts on the gutted 1999 Toyota Camry with the 3.0L V6 engine and 5 speed manual transmission:
Alright, what the hell am I supposed to say about this thing. This thing is as close to a normal Camry as I’m close to being Jenifer Aniston. The engine is pretty stock, but the trans is different, the interior is gone, and a roll cage now takes up the interior. So if you’re looking to buy a stock 1999 Camry for your grandmother to drive 8 times before she never drives ever again, then this isn’t the review for you. If you want to see what a boring car can become through a little bit of hard work and vision, then this is the review for you. So let’s talk about this specific car.
This car was built in 2002, so it’s spent nearly it’s entire life the way it is now. Any extra weight has been removed, and a roll cage now sits where the rear seats used to be. There are no windows. There is no heat. There is no power steering. But engine wise, it’s pretty close to stock. A cold air intake and exhaust are simple mods almost any car enthusiast can do, and that’s all this Camry has. So missing hundreds of pounds of extra weight, this car goes like a bat out of hell. No, it won’t smash track records, but man does it feel like it.
