Adolf Hitler was a WWI war veteran born in Austria-Hungary, awarded with an Iron Cross First Class for rendered services. He had seen a terrorised childhood with his outraged father and overconcerned mother and also poverty after leaving home at the age of 18, and failing twice for the entry exam at the Vienna Art Academy. His dream of becoming an art painter was ruined so when WWI began in 1914, Hitler was an eager volunteer to sign up. He florished in the Bavarian Corps as a runner and rose to the rank of Corporal, at his trench called 'Amerika'. But mustard gas put him in a field hospital in 1918, resulting in temporary blindness and severe disgust for the Versailles Treaty. Around 1920, he joined the Deutsche Arbeiders Party and quickly rose in party ranks because of his mindbending monologues. He became the leader of the adapted NSDAP and gained much support, leading up to the Bierkellerputsch on November 8, 1923. Hitler and General Ludendorff had planned to take over the Munich authorities with the help of the NSDAP militia called Sturmabteilung. However, General Ludendorff changed his mind at the last moment and informed police and army, resulting in 14 dead SA militants and a 5-year jail sentence for Hitler. Because he accused himself as the only responsible person for the failed coup, he became a public hero and only served 9 months in jail. His legendary racist monologue 'mein Kampf' was written during jailtime and after Hitler's release, he linked up with the NSDAP again. The party was reinstated after a ban due to stability and prosperity in Germany, with a central party winning the 1928 elections. But 1929 started with angry farmers due to overproduction and low market prices, causing bomb attacks in the streets of Schleswig-Holstein! Nazis and communists were fighting in Berlin streets so USA pulled the plug on the loan system. After nearly 6 years of financial help, USA stopped supporting the German economy. In October, 1929, the situation got even worse due to the Wall Street Crash, resulting in new elections in November. Hitler was a candidate but was passed and saw another chance in November 1932, with the NSDAP as the second largest German party. But fear of fascism led up to the appointment of President Paul von Hindenburg, who had to combine leadership with politics. Only 2 months later on 30 January, 1933, von Hindenburg made Hitler the new Reichskanzler because no other candidates remained. The president assumed that the endless debates and sharp attitude of politics would grind Hitler down, ending up in failed leadership and a ridiculed NSDAP party. But Hitler had a different plan, that had already been executed when Paul von Hindenburg died on September 2, 1934, at the age of 86. finntroll 1984: / @finntroll1984cod
