In the steaming jungles of Lustria, where the air hangs heavy with decay and the cries of dying beasts echo through the canopy, dwell the ancient and enigmatic Lizardmen—cold-blooded remnants of a forgotten age. They are not mere beasts, nor simple savages. They are the living instruments of the Old Ones, godlike beings who vanished long ago, leaving behind cryptic plans and crumbling temples. The Lizardmen exist to fulfill these divine designs, even as the world around them rots and fractures under the weight of Chaos.

The Lizardmen are a race of reptilian warriors and scholars, bred for purpose and bound by duty. Their society is rigidly hierarchical, with each caste engineered for a specific role. The mighty Saurus are hulking brutes of war, born from spawning pools already scarred and battle-hardened. They know nothing of fear, mercy, or hesitation. The Skinks, smaller and more agile, serve as priests, scouts, and administrators, their cunning minds attuned to the shifting winds of prophecy and power. Towering above them all are the Slann Mage-Priests—ancient, bloated creatures of immense magical might, whose minds drift between realms and whose memories stretch back to the dawn of creation. They are the last living beings to have communed directly with the Old Ones, and their will shapes the destiny of the Lizardmen.

But this destiny is not one of peace. The world is dying. The Great Plan—an intricate web of fate and cosmic order—has been shattered by the incursion of Chaos. Daemons claw at reality, the winds of magic spiral into madness, and the lesser races squabble over the bones of empires. The Lizardmen stand as bulwarks against this entropy, their temples bristling with arcane defenses and their armies marching to purge corruption wherever it festers. They do not fight for conquest or glory. They fight because they must. Because the alternative is annihilation.

Lustria itself is a land of death. Its jungles teem with venomous flora and ravenous fauna, and its ruins are littered with the corpses of treasure-seekers who dared trespass. The Lizardmen guard these sacred sites with brutal efficiency, unleashing swarms of jungle beasts and ancient war machines powered by forgotten magics. Their wrath is not tempered by diplomacy or reason. To defile a temple-city is to invite extinction.

Yet even within their stoic ranks, there are cracks. Spawnings grow increasingly erratic. Prophecies fail. Some Slann have fallen into eternal silence, their minds lost in the void. The Great Plan is no longer clear, and the Lizardmen march forward in grim uncertainty, clinging to fragments of divine purpose in a world that no longer makes sense.

They are not heroes. They are not villains. They are ancient tools of a vanished pantheon, enacting a war that may already be lost. But until the final glyph fades and the last spawning pool dries, the Lizardmen will fight. Cold-blooded. Unyielding. Eternal.

Full disclosure - This starts with the soundtrack to Medieval II Total War : Kingdoms. Its just better ambient music for the lizardmen. Further praise does go to the Warhammer Total War team though - who brought us the Total war Warhammer II OST: Ian Livingstone, Richard Beddow, Richard Wells, Tilman Sillescu and Tim Wynn, amongst others supported by the Budapest Scoring Symphonic Orchestra.
