𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Luxury fast-tracked, these are the two words that capture the essence of this project. The site was a builder-provided 3BHK apartment in Surat, and the family of four who would claim this as their home were short on time. Yet, they required a home that would convey a sense of affluence. While the spatial programme was tweaked by replacing one bedroom with a multipurpose room, the aesthetic articulation was based on a curvilinear syntax to achieve a certain smoothness, bolstered by small interventions such as handle-less furniture and the use of transparent and reflective expanses. The latter also helped to create an illusory sense of space in the 1100-sq-ft space.

At Studio Lagom, caring is culture. Based in Surat with Principal architect Ar. Hardik Shah, our process is rooted in eye for detail. Every process needs to be followed rigorously, in order to create something that is in harmony with nature. Our practice challenges the Indian architectural landscape that is still quite unorganized, where ‘layers of materials’ have ruled over ‘purity of materials’. We like to infuse natural elements into spaces thereby creating form that not only follows function, but creates spaces for lifestyles and cultures.
