This simple method will allow you to batton and split wood with ease each time.
No need to bash the crap out of your knife or even use an axe.

Wood splitting is a basic bushcraft skill that will give you fire wood for camping, when out practicing bushcraft, prepping or survival skills.
As firewood is so important when out wild camping, and even more so in a bugout situation, wood battoning needs to be a simple process, using simple tools where you can.
Try not to batton wood with you knife if possible. Although gathering camp wood and wood splitting for firewood is quite essential, so is your survival knife, and snapping the blade would cause serious problems in a bugout, survival or SHTF situation.
