In the same area you can see the small church of Agia Dynami which is buried in a rock from which gurgling waters gush.

Where to start about this spot? It is located at the bottom of a ravine off the beaten path, but totally accessible by the main road (there is also a little "train" ride from Georgioupoilis that make a trip there. It is literally surrounded by beautiful waterfalls, and shade. They even have a fountain in the middle of the restaurant that flows with the fresh water from the waterfalls (yes you can drink from it) It's quiet, great to walk around the waterfall area before or after dinner. I have been to dozens and dozens of restaurants in the area, and only a few make me dream about going back. This is my favorite.

Crete | Argiroupolis Town. Argyroupoli is a tiny hamlet nestling in the green hills south of Rethymno that's become quite popular thanks to a couple of tavernas and cafes set into a slope next to a waterfall.
The tavernas feature local specialties such as fire-roasted mutton and goat meat, plus your choice of trout and even sturgeon, which you can pick from a tank that's constantly renewed with running mountain water.
To get to Argyroupoli, drive west on the main highway out of Rethymno, turning left to the sign which tells you that the village is about 10 kilometres away. There's also a regular though infrequent KTEL bus service from Rethymno bus station.
