There are eight small ponds with exceptionally clear water in Oshino Village. It is said that they are formed by the snowmelt from Mt. Fuji, which seeps into the ground over several decades before emerging as spring water. The village also has many traditional Japanese thatched-roof houses, attracting numerous foreign visitors every day.
The Kitaguchi Hongū Fuji Sengen Shrine, located north of Oshino Village, is a shrine that enshrines Mt. Fuji as its sacred deity, and its main buildings date back to the Edo period. The shrine grounds are surrounded by cedar and cypress trees that are over a thousand years old, creating a solemn and majestic atmosphere.
