La Chanson Des Vieux Amants (Gérard Jouannest, arr. Roland Dyens)

This piece is probably the most difficult and hardest piece I have ever played. It looks and sounds super easy, but it couldn't be further from the truth... This piece is incredibly taxing on your hands (I'll have to take a few days off of the guitar, so that my hands can regenerate properly). What makes it difficult is actually its slow speed. You have to hit every single note on your fretboard perfectly, because you are stuck with it for the next 5 seconds and since you can't afford to break this incredibly beautiful melody, there is no way for you to correct anything. On top of that, you have to play huge stretches, which actually force your left hand to be at an awkward, very uncommon (and usually wrong) angle and you play barred chords over extended periods of time. All of this just strains the left hand incredibly.
I started practicing it around the same time i started practicing L' Hymne A L' Amour (   • L' Hymne A L' Amour - (E. Piaf, M. Monnot ...  ). However, you see how many weeks more I needed to really nail this one down.
