India being an IT/ software and process outsourcing hub, has emerged as a preferred destination for outsourcing software development services. As IT companies gain worldwide footprint and work with Fortune Clients, helping them develop new products and incorporation of newer technologies, gaining right perspective on IP Rights, Security and Confidentiality are of paramount importance. In addition to this, there is transition happening from service to product based business model, which again underlines the importance of IPR and related topics.
Historically, the spot-light of IT industry is primarily on the service model, which is in some way refraining IT companies from creating their own patented products as the companies are contractually bound to not own IPRs (Intellectual Property Rights) even on products/solutions they have developed.
