Distressed Muslim women in Bareilly questioned the move, saying, "We have been living here for 40-50 years; our entire lives have been spent here. We built our homes penny by penny. Is our only fault that we are Muslims?" The demolition drive has targeted properties regardless of their government housing status, intensifying fear and allegations of targeted action.
