Many of us were raised with strictness, hard love, and discipline.
It made us strong, resilient, determined, competitive, and in many ways, successful.
But it also created silent wounds.
In this clip, I talk about how traditional parenting produced children who learned to survive, not always to truly live.
We grew up trying not to disappoint our parents, chasing perfection, approval, and success, sometimes at the cost of our emotional health.
What looked like resilience often came with anxiety, fear, unhealthy competition, and unhealed trauma.
This is not about blaming our parents or ingratitude to them.
It is about understanding the impact and long term effects of our actions.
Modern parenting does not mean abandoning discipline. Children still need structure, boundaries, and guidance. But strictness without tenderness breeds fear, not love. When discipline is rooted in fear, fear of society, failure, or shame, children comply, but they do not feel safe.
Healthy parenting balances discipline with tenderness, boundaries with emotional safety, correction with reassurance, and high standards with unconditional love.
When children know that discipline comes from love, not fear, they grow up resilient and whole.
This conversation is for parents, future parents, and anyone reflecting on how their upbringing shaped who they became and how they now show up in the world.
Let us raise children who are not just survivors, but people who are free, healed, and truly alive.
