These coaches already had weathered roofs. I had sprayed then with car grey primer paint, and then at a distance sprayed black car paint (matt) to give an uneven finish. That looks good.
Now the coach sides could be left pristine, as these would often get cleaned. But I did want to spray the bogies with dirt. So I got my Badger air brush (£10) and sprayed water-based brown acrylic over those, so a slight bit of overspray went up the sides of the coach bodies.
