Welcome to this CG Cookie tutorial series talking about a ground impact system prepared using Particle Flow, mParticles and FumeFX.
In this series we'll talk about ground impact FXs. We'll see how to create a dynamic setup to simulate falling bombs hitting the ground and creating dust explosion/trails. Falling bombs will be simulated using mParticles in PFlow. When these particles will collide with the ground object, some new particles will be generated with spawning to create trails. Particle setup will be used as driver for FumeFX simulation, but we'll see how to decide which PFlow event can be used or not in FumeFX with a trick, using a Mesher compound object to filter PFlow events. We'll take a look at simulation parameters, general dust/smoke rendering look and a basic lighting setup done to be used with Scanline engine.
