Are you facing problems in removing Paint Defects?
There are many detailers who are facing so many issues in removing paint defects.
For the same first u needs to understand paint defects and what are the process of removing the same.
There are not particular following steps for every defect… U need to change the processes according to the paint defects.
In the paint structure its starts with Metal, on the metal there is primer on the panel, after primer base coat which Is known as Paint,, After paint, there is clear coat. This is the basic structure of the Paint. There are monocots, and Solid colors also where paint and clear coat mixer is sprayed. But, that is exceptional case.
We are explaining paint defects and paint types in the picture running in the video. Where u can see defects of paint like swirl marks, deep scratches, Acid rain Etching and hologram marks which is known as buffer marks also which generates with the different type of polishing practice. There are orange peel as well on the paint which is also major paint defect on the paint. Its generally found on repainted color.
To remover paint defects, u need to find out first that particularly which paint defect is major on the paint? It might Orange peel, Deep Scratch or Swirl marks only.
To remove any paint defects you will be needing sanding disc or paper. We can use 1500, 2000 and 3000 grit to correct the paint.
Sanding can be done manually with hand and sanding block or you can use sanding machine. if you are using sanding machine we always recommend you to use interface pad along with the sanding paper. That gives cushioning effect while sanding. without interface pad backing plate will impact directly with paint which might can harm the paint.
If you wish to do manual sanding, you just need to stick the disc on sanding block.
Now you may clear that when can we go with sanding process. In-short, if your paint is damage more than 30% then only sanding process is recommend.
Which sanding grit you can use it is totally depended on paint structure. 1500 grit is very much aggressive grit which can cut orange peels as well. If there is repainted panel, then there might be chances of orange peels, dust in paint and so many paint defects. So, whenever you found repainted panel, you have start with 1500 grit sanding only. If you choose to do 1500 grit sanding then you must follow the 2000 and 3000 grit on the same. Then only you can do heavy cutting compound and fine finishing process on it.
If there is only deep scratches on the paint you need to do directly 2000 sanding on it and follow with the 3000 on it.
If you have found multiple swirl marks on the paint then you must choose 3000 grit sanding only.
If there is very few swirl marks then you must ignore sanding process. U can start with compound and finishing on it.
