The latest release from Clubsonica Records welcomes D.J. MacIntyre to the label for his debut single. Hailing from California, the US artist owns a healthy discography, highlighted by appearances on 3rd Avenue, Desert Trax and his own SLC-6 Music imprint. Well travelled as a DJ, the Santa Barbara resident has appeared at some of the world's most prestigious events, most notably Burning Man and the Lucidity Festival, while also showcasing his borderless programming skills in Moscow, Siberia and all across the United States. Now following the release of his critically acclaimed 'Constellations: Gemini' Mix collection, D.J. MacIntyre debuts on Clubsonica with 'Conquistador' alongside remixes from D-Formation and Ruls.

Although D.J. MacIntyre's broad sonic palette is well noted, on 'Conquistador' he sticks close to his progressive minded roots. Constructed with peak time sensibilities, the US artist crafts a devilish blend of pulsating rhythms and hypnotic themes. Astral stabs provide unique hooks, while electric lines and percussive flurries steal the air at opportune moments. A well-crafted break is the icing on the cake, shifting the narrative further into emotive territory with tasteful melodies and airy atmospherics, before a powerful drop segues into a cosmic finale.

The first interpretation of 'Conquistador' is provided by D-Formation. The Spanish artist has been a fixture of the electronic underground for over two decades. Appearances on Einmusika, Suara, Yoshitoshi and his Beatfreak Recordings imprint highlight his discography, as he continues to travel the globe delighting fans with his powerful take on melodic house and techno. Always a sought-after remixer, D-Formation now makes his Clubsonica debut with a superb rendition of 'Conquistador'. Beginning with a punchy kick and crunchy groove, the Spanish artist slowly works in the mystical themes and cosmic effects from the original. Rolling grooves and icy overlays only enhance its electric nature, perfectly transitioning the piece into a second act of charged rhythms and driving percussion. A cavernous break showcases a unique contrast of tension and emotion, building anticipation with each successive loop as a tasteful crescendo cues a monstrous third act.

The second and final interpretation of 'Conquistador' is provided by Ruls. Hailing from Mexico, Raul Mejia aka Ruls has also enjoyed a long history in electronic music dating back to 1999 when he created one of his country's most recognized trance projects 'Ecliptic'. Also operating the downtempo moniker Lunar Sound, Raul earned the praise of some of the underground's premiere tastemakers such as Sasha, Maceo Plex, Richie Hawtin and Jimmy Van M. Now presenting his first new music of 2020, Ruls debuts on Clubsonica with a powerful take on 'Conquistador'. Coming in a touch more techno inspired than its predecessors, the Mexican artist strips the groove down for a dynamic journey filled with intriguing sonic artefacts. As drifting atmospheres and fragmented melodies descend over the framework, sweeping effects and tranquil motifs continue to tantalize the senses. Anticipation builds as the main break progresses with unconventional shifts and a cinematic air carrying the storyboard, before the melodic fragments melt away into an otherworldly finale. A stunning interpretation from Ruls which caps off another must have release from Clubsonica, who continue to deliver a great blend of new and veteran talent as the label's journey unfolds.
