Here’s my take on Go Down by Alexander Brandon, originally composed for Unreal Tournament — but this time, not as a straight drum cover.
For this video, I recorded multiple layers of drums and percussion: main drum parts, drum overdubs, shakers, tambourine, and additional textures. Toward the end of the track, I looped and stacked these parts over the final bars, turning it into a kind of extended drumming passage but built through repetition and layers rather than chops.
This song lends itself perfectly to that approach. Go Down is dense, industrial, and hypnotic by nature. The groove isn’t about flash — it’s about momentum, texture, and staying locked in while the tension slowly builds. That’s what I wanted to explore here: how far you can push the groove without breaking the mood.
Alexander Brandon’s Unreal-era music was way ahead of its time, and this track still feels incredibly relevant today. This was a challenging and very satisfying one to work on.
