Throughout the month of September, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have joined others in their communities to commemorate the 9/11 anniversary with service. The Church encourages members to serve others for the National Day of Service and Remembrance through JustServe. This year, projects included helping with yard work, cleaning headstones and packing more than 9.4 million meals.
One woman who helped with yard work at a camp for people with disabilities in Iowa said the day was full of joy and fellowship.
Volunteers in 24 cities across the United States worked to pack meals for people facing hunger. One young woman, who wasn’t born yet in 2001, when the 9/11 terrorist attacks took place, said it was an amazing experience to recognize the events on such an important day.
