✨In this ACIM Lesson 46 teaching, you'll discover:
• Expected difficulty is normal - Course explicitly states if you're doing exercise well, you SHOULD have no difficulty finding people you haven't forgiven; ego will try to use this to help you judge yourself; remember what lesson actually says
• All forgiveness is self-forgiveness - All condemnation is self-condemnation; judgmental mind gets result of its own thinking which is experience of judgment; as you condemn only yourself, so do you forgive only yourself
• Catholic school foundation - Teddy recalls Baltimore Catechism first question: "What is God?" Answer: "God is love"; second question: "Who am I?" Answer: "God created me to show forth his goodness"; simplicity of God being love is simplicity of reason why fear doesn't exist
• Membrane of separation - Consciousness exists like balloon or inverse mirror ball; God's love (above) and true Self (below) trying to impinge on membrane to reunite; as balloon bursts they reunite and you experience oneness you already are
• Discomfort as divine signal - What we experience as pain/suffering is actually Holy Spirit inducing discomfort to get our attention; love impinging on membrane of separation
• Forgiveness is ONLY path - Jesus says "only way to God is through forgiveness"; people say "what about those who don't know Course?"; anyone who's experienced God has indeed forgiven even if unknowingly (maybe through abject surrender like Teddy - gave up thinking, no longer wanted results!)
• God doesn't forgive - God does not forgive because He never condemned; there must be condemnation before forgiveness is necessary; although God doesn't forgive, His love is nevertheless BASIS of forgiveness (NOT guilt and fear!)
• We have it BACKWARDS - Humanity always gets it backwards; forgiveness not given because we're guilty but because we're perfect/whole/innocent, are likewise only love; guilt NOT cause of forgiveness - God's love IS cause of forgiveness
• Results reveal thinking - You must get result of your own thinking; by looking and experiencing results you're getting, come to learn what you are thinking; results in experience can recognize truth of what you've been thinking (forgiving or withholding and binding to illusion!)
• Forgiveness as homecoming - Each moment we discover something yet to be forgiven is moment to "gladden ourselves" because through forgiveness we discover illusions were never real; all roads lead home to kingdom of heaven where we never left
