With this video, the Jeffries family who appeared as forerunners of Shortland Street from the mid Noughties, have all dissapeared. Maia Jeffries arrived with her girlfriend in 2004 and it was not long before she was joined by mother Yvonne, father Ian and younger sisters Tania and Libby. Ian committed suicide after being diagnosed with Kennedys disease. Maia gave birth to her son Jay Jeffries in 2007. Libby left in April 2010 with a guest appearance in September and Tania left that December and now Yvonne, Maia and Jay leave, making the show that has been the home for the Jeffries for the past 7 years, Jeffries free. Thats not to say they wont be back though.
Truely is sad to say farewell to one of the longest ever running characters on the soap, farewell Maia.
