This video offers guidance to all those interested in understanding more and using parts or the whole of the TeamUp Cross-sector Collaboration Framework, which was developed to guide the process of designing and implementing cross-sectoral engagement aimed at improving the living situation of young women and men in Uganda.
The framework builds upon the experience of the TeamUp Program - a collaborative initiative between Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung (DSW), Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung (HRNS), Siemens Stiftung, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and three Ugandan implementing organisations, namely:
Action 4 Health Uganda, which focuses on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights; Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung Africa, working in the field of Agriculture, and Whave Solutions, which focuses on the provision of safe Water.
The framework is nourished by diverse sources of knowledge centred around the TeamUp model and experience, following a systemic perspective to provide a watershed for diverse organisations to engage in cross-sector collaboration connected by shared purpose and values.
It encompasses structures, processes and practices that can guide actions and inform principles for collaboration, accompanied by a set of simple tools aimed to help the users apply the framework in their practice. It is not a project/program implementation and management manual, nor a fundraising strategy for multi-stakeholder programs. Nevertheless, it can enhance the effectiveness of management practice in a cross-sectoral setting by contributing to a cultural shift in the way actors engage with each other.
While developing this framework, we engaged stakeholders from the public, private and civil society sectors in Uganda, focused on youth to understand their needs, expectations, experience and readiness for engaging in cross-sector collaboration. Although the design principles and ethos we apply are universal and aimed at systemic transformation, the collaboration process and governance structures outlined in this document are geared towards the Ugandan context and may need to be tweaked if the framework is to be applied elsewhere. The practical tools we provide are well-suited to guide such adaptations.
