A 10 July Bombay High Court verdict acquitted a man who was earlier convicted of raping a 17.5-year-old with whom he was in a relationship at age 25. The trial court had also held him guilty under POCSO, a tough law that seeks to punish sexual crimes against children, even though the girl involved had unequivocally declared the relationship was consensual.
