🎥 Did you know the 12 Grapes tradition has roots in Spain’s upper class and a little French imitation? 🍇✨
Back in the late 1800s, wealthy Spaniards started eating grapes and drinking champagne at midnight on New Year’s Eve—taking inspiration from French high society. It became a symbol of sophistication and celebration.
Then, in 1909, grape farmers in Alicante had a surplus harvest and cleverly marketed the idea to the masses: eat 12 grapes at midnight for good luck in the new year! Each grape represents a wish for every month of the year, and it quickly became a beloved tradition across Spain and beyond. 🌟
Now, it’s the 12 Grapes Challenge we know today, with families racing to eat all 12 grapes before the last bell chimes. Can you keep up? 🕛🍇
