Golconda was the capital of the Qutb Shahi dynasty, and is situated 11 kilometres west of Hyderabad. The Golkonda Fort is listed as an archaeological treasure by the Archaeological Survey of India. This episode introduces the viewer to the fort's ancient engineering marvels like the amazing acoustic effect of the 'Fateh Darwazaan', it's well planned water-supply system, and the air corridor, which brings the wind from the hilltop right up to the royal court (Durbar). Other attractions include the 'Ramadas Bandikhana' where the royal tax collector was incarcerated for 12 years, bastions still mounted with cannons, a number of royal apartments and halls, and rumoured secret underground tunnels to the foothills and to the Charminar.
