Everybody who's played Final Fantasy Tactics knows it's among the best games of all time, and the music is perhaps Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata's best work. Many of the songs from the OST still give me goosebumps any time I listen to them.
Recording done as seen, with a small-diaphragm condenser mic aimed at the 14th fret [hard panned left], and large-diaphragm condenser mic over the shoulder [hard panned right]. Phase-alignment done manually in post. Ping-pong delay on note attacks added with stock plugins, for a similar ambience to the original.
