This short film is based on Chapter 6 of Joe Burns’s powerful new book “To Kurt, I’m Sorry.”
It visually recreates the tragic events that unfolded in early April 1994 — the attack that took place in the basement, the staging and movement of Kurt’s body to the greenhouse, and the final moments that have haunted music history ever since.
In this video we start out on Sunday, April 3rd, 1994, and end on Monday, April 4th, 1994 at nighttime when Joeand Bonnie we're getting away from the place for the final time (they left once before on Sunday, April 3rd).
The film concludes with the chilling scene described by Joe and Bonnie, who on the night of Monday, April 4th, 1994, saw Mark Lanegan in the greenhouse wearing a red dress, before leaving for good — a haunting final image that still raises questions about what really happened that night.
This project is meant as both a visual interpretation and emotional reflection on the story Joe shares — bringing to life one of the most mysterious and devastating moments in rock history.
