KL AMONG NEW '7 WONDER CITIES'
Kuala Lumpur has been voted one of the seven most magnificent and incredible cities in the World.
The honour comes courtesy of the New7Wonders Cities an initiative to identify the top urban centres on Earth.
Bernard Weber, Founder-President of New7Wonders Foundation, which conducted the global popularity poll, announced the result in Dubai on Sunday.
From 1200 nominees from 220 countries, the list was narrowed down to 28 through qualification and selection process.
The 28 cities then went through three phases of worldwide voting until the final seven cities were chosen.
They were selected based on postal, social media and telephone votes by millions of people worldwide.
The initiative was launched two years ago following the New7Wonders of the World, and New7Wonders of Nature campaigns.
Established in 2001, the foundation seeks to contribute to the protection of the world's human-built and natural heritage, and cultivate respect for the planet's diversity.
