Dolakha Bhimeshwor Temple | मूर्तिमा पसिना आउदा, देशमा अशुभ हुने मन्दिर
Dolakha, known for the Bhimeshwor Temple, is rich in cultural and spiritual heritage. The temple, dedicated to the powerful deity Bhimeshwor, is a significant Shakti Peeth, attracting devotees for its unique religious rituals and legends. According to local lore, the temple's origin traces back to a group of 12 porters who, while cooking a traditional Nepali dish called Dhedo, accidentally broke a stone. Blood and milk flowed from the stone, leading the porters to worship it. This incident is believed to mark the divine presence of Bhimeshwor.
The temple, built in traditional Newar architecture, showcases intricate wooden carvings and a copper-pillar structure, with statues of Bhimeshwor, his mother Kunti, and his wife Draupadi adorning the sanctum.
The Bhimeshwor Temple is also known for its special rituals, performed throughout the day, including Arambha Puja, Rudri Puja, Chakkal Puja, and Aarti Puja. The temple is particularly revered during festivals such as Maha Ashtami, Mahashivaratri, Dashain, and others. Locals believe that the idol of Bhimeshwor changes forms throughout the day, symbolizing different aspects of the deity. Additionally, the temple is associated with the forewarning of national crises, as it is believed that the idol begins to sweat before significant disasters or political upheavals. The temple’s ritual practices, including sacrifices and the recitation of special poojas, are deeply rooted in tradition.
