This film follows the journey of a cat mummy from the British Museum to Mumbai, as part of a major international loan of 83 objects to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS).
From conservation and packing in London to installation in the gallery, we go behind the scenes to reveal the people, care and collaboration involved in sharing museum collections across continents.
The loan supports CSMVS’s re-imagined Ancient World Gallery, developed in partnership with museums around the world and connected to the Getty Foundation’s Ancient Worlds Now programme. At its heart is the idea of the museum as a classroom — a space for learning, questioning and understanding how human histories are shaped by centuries of exchange.
