Pfizer and BioNTech used a new method to develop their coronavirus vaccine. The technique – also used by Moderna - has never before led to an approved vaccine. It is made from scratch - synthetically in a lab - using a small part of the virus' genetic profile, or mRNA. The vaccine is then injected into our muscle cells, find out what happens next.
