Since the last some months the highly infections disease Covid 19 has taken grasp of the entire world. It started in Dec 19 in Wuhan China, reporting more than 50000 cases and more than 3000 deaths in just a few months. The disease has spread to almost every nation world over with more than 2 million cases by mid april 2020. In modern times this has been one of the most trying situations and has affected the health of humans and economies all over the world. The situation has also slowed down the human race, with a lot of aspects of our lives coming to an absolute standstill. The other side of the coin is however, with lesser human activities, Earth is getting a chance to breathe again. Air pollution levels are less due to fewer cars, consumerism and Industrial wastes have reduced. No doubt all of this may have huge negative impact on all economies, and the real challenge would be to continue caring for the Earth even when things go back to normal.
The world as we know it has changed for now. A pandemic which has brought all of humanity to its knees- COVID-19. Millions of people sick and suffering all over the globe. One of the most alarming situations of modern times, baffling nations and economies across the world. But as we familiarize ourselves with our new lifestyles, of extended lockdowns, travel bans, work from home, handwashing & sanitizing, housework, continuously checking our feeds, there is something else changing, our beautiful home earth. As rush hour traffic changes to empty streets and fewer industries functioning, pollution levels are more in check, and every day, along with alarming news on COVID-19, we also see some beautiful stories, stories of nature taking back what is her's. As we are locked away- with fewer humans around, animals take to our streets and waters.
A small civet on a street in kozhikode, India, an alligator at myrtle beach, South Carolina, dolphins at marine drive Mumbai, India. Geese at Tel Aviv airport tarmac, Israel, mountain goats at a welsh seaside town, peacocks at Babulnath, Mumbai, India, elephants at Coorg, India. The largest antelope of Asia
The nilgai at Noida, India. Hornbills at Malabar hill, Mumbai.
While some of these videos may be real, and some may not..It doesn't really matter...Does it? All that matters is that there is still ...Hope, and all that we need to do is...Stop. So when we manage to get out of the COVID-19 crisis we are in, we need to go back to living more mindfully and respecting nature, reduce our consumerism and pressure on our planet now that we have learnt that we can live even with less, let's keep our earth and waters clean. Let's give enough space and protection so all of Nature's creations can thrive
In their natural habitats. Do the worlds apex beings - humans
Really need to be locked away
For Earth to breathe.
"Animals should not require
Our permission to live on earth,
Animals were given the right
To be here long before we arrived."
Anthony Douglas Williams
When we protect our planet,
We protect ourselves
Dedicated to our frontline warriors who have been risking their
And their families' lives to keep the rest of us safe,
To those who have been fighting for conservation through all these years,
And to those who have lost their lives or loved ones to the battle against covid-19
