A major political controversy has erupted in Odisha after allegations of cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha elections.

Baliguda MLA Chakramani Kanhar is accused of voting against the party line and supporting Dilip Ray, triggering strong backlash from Biju Janata Dal (BJD) workers.

In Kandhamal district, BJD youth and student leaders staged a protest in Phulbani, burning the effigy of the MLA and accusing him of betraying public trust. Protesters claimed that despite winning twice from the constituency, the MLA has now gone against the people’s mandate.

Leaders warned that such actions will not be forgiven and demanded accountability within the party.
