(10 Feb 2018) Thousands of colorfully dressed dancers and musicians kicked off Carnival celebrations in the Bolivian city of Oruro on Saturday.
Almost everyone in Oruro, a former mining centre in western Bolivia, has a role, as dancer, musician, dressmaker or make-up artist.
The event, one of Latin America's most famous, involves some 20-thousand dancers dressed in traditional costumes, and musicians that parade through the streets of the city.
The events, which attract hundreds of thousands of visitors to Bolivia, last throughout the weekend.
Oruro's carnival is a United Nations World Heritage event.
