Hong Kong - Lee sworn in to Legislative Council

The leader of Hong Kong's Democratic Party, Martin Lee, was sworn in to the territory's newly elected legislative council on Thursday (02/07), ending a year in the political wilderness. The new 60-seat legislature was sworn in en-masse, with Lee and his democratic politicians returning to the body which they were kicked off of at the end of British rule last July. Lee and his democratic allies command just 20 seats despite securing two-thirds of the popular vote in May'selections, the first under Chinese rule.
