Right, finally we get Grandmaster Vanguard Alerts that are supposed to be like "GMs of old". That is all great, I was really looking forward to once again have a nice weekly set difficulty activity that I can always go back to and have some fun. As everyone is probably aware, GM Nightfalls have always been my favourite part of Destiny. However, I have only one question - why are GM Vanguard Alerts locked at -50? Bungie said multiple times that current -40 is equivalent of the pre-Edge of Fate GM difficulty. So why is it -50 all of a sudden? Why do we have to go through super spongy enemies at -50? Wasn't -50 Mythic Kepler an absolute fiasco that was eventually adjusted? I hope we will get some explanations. Also, keep in mind that GM in Portal is -25, GM in Conquest is -40, GM in Vanguard Alerts is -50. What is a GM? What is Ultimate? No consistency, all confusion.

Anyhow, for this run I decided to use the path of least resistance and just use Prismatic Warlock with Getaway Artist. This build is overloaded with buffs and debuffs, it has crazy survivability with 100% uptime on Jolting Arc Soul and Bleak Watcher. Yes, it is probably the obvious choice and I would love to use something more unique but -50 is not something I wanted to struggle in the first day. I will probably revisit this on different builds, but we will see where we are eventually.

As for my weapons, we have very poor selection of anti-champions mods, and at -50 legendary primaries cannot even break barriers sometimes. So I decided to go with Revision Zero as it is one of the best kinetic intrinsic anti-barrier weapons and it works well. Other than that I have Unfall rocket sidearm with Jolting feedback. Lastly I have the new Strand LMG Qua Vinctus IV with Demolitionist and Rewind Rounds, that is an LMG that you never ever have to reload, which is handy.
