It's often been argued in my comments when people choose to defend the casting of a cisgender actor as a transgender character that it's ok because the filmmakers case "the best actor for the part." And, as often happens, I've now seen that claim often enough that I'm going to pick it apart on the autopsy table and see if there was any actual life in it.
