You are stranded in deep space. You have 10,000 bytes of critical data to transmit, but your radio only has a budget of 512 bytes.
The catch? Your transmission must include the decoder source code.
If len(compressed_data) + len(decoder_script) is greater than 512, the transmission fails.
In this video, we explore the problem of "Oxygen-Limited Compression." We look at why standard libraries like zlib are mathematically impossible to use in this scenario, touch on Kolmogorov Complexity, and attempt to build a custom "Tiny VM" in Python to solve the puzzle.
